Peace Poster Contest 2013-2014 District 4-L1

PDG Lita Guidotti Peace Poster Chair

The Peace Poster Contest gives young people the opportunity to creatively express their feelings for world peace and to share their visions with the world through ART. And Lions are given the chance to interact with young people in their communities, introducing the youth to international understanding, as well as providing Lions a vehicle for obtaining positive publicity for their Club.

"OUR WORLD, OUR FUTURE" is the theme of the 2013-2014 Peace Poster Contest. We received eight (8) art works from different clubs in the Metro and Valley regions.

District Governor Josephine Louie received those eight (8) artworks and brought them on November 23, 2013 at 2:00 PM to the Therapeutic Living Center for the Blind. We invited four (4) judges who are educators and members of the Artist Guild organization. The judges evaluated the posters based upon three criteria, Expression of the theme; Artistic merit and Originality.

The 1st place -winner is Ruby Park (related to 2012-2013 international winner) sponsored by Northridge Club. The 2nd place went to Kyo Cabunoc sponsored by Los Feliz Lions Club and the 3rd place went to Mariam Shahmoradian sponsored by Burbank Noon Lions Club.

All poster entries will be displayed at the Valley Regional meeting on Jan 11, 2013 and at the District Convention in May 2014 at the Sheraton Hotel in Agoura Hills. The winners will be recognized at the Valley Regional meeting in Jan.2014.
